Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Machinist to join our team. This role involves setting up and operating CNC lathes, inspecting parts (first article and in process), and potentially working with other CNC machines. Our company is a contract manufacturer supporting industries such as Aerospace, Medical Device, Optical, and Semiconductor. You will be working on complex parts with tight tolerances and a variety of materials including titanium, stainless steel, aluminum, and torlon.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes.
  • Inspect own parts, including first article and in process inspections.
  • Work with various CNC machines ranging from 3-axis to 5-axis.
  • Handle materials and perform tasks such as cutting and sawing parts.
  • Collaborate with team members and take on multiple roles as needed.
  • Run 2-3 machines simultaneously, depending on experience.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of experience with setup and operation of CNC lathes (consideration for candidates with 3-4 years of experience if highly skilled).
  • Experience working with at least 4-axis machines; 5-axis experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Fanuc Controls.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from engineering prints, drawings, and sketches with GD&T feature controls.
  • Capability to perform first article and in process inspections.
  • Possession of own measuring tools and basic machining tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Programming experience (SurfCAM/SolidWorks).
  • Experience working in an AS9100/ISO9001 regulated shop.
  • Experience with CNC milling machines.

Work Environment

Our shop is spacious with high ceilings and is maintained in a clean condition. Machines are organized by department, including milling and lathe sections. We have a team of around 20 people, with 12 being machinists. The typical shift is Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm with occasional overtime as needed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Livermore, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
