JOB SUMMARY:
As a vital member of our clinical team, each therapist plays a key role in supporting clients through every stage of their recovery journey. Therapists lead their caseload with compassion and professionalism, conducting initial assessments and ongoing individual and group sessions in alignment with best practices and insurance guidelines. They serve as the primary point of contact for families, fostering open communication and addressing questions or concerns with empathy and clarity. Our therapists collaborate closely with counselors to create dynamic, client-centered treatment plans that promote recovery and address broader life challenges—including mental health, physical well-being, life skills, and vocational goals. Through meaningful connection and clinical excellence, therapists empower clients to make lasting progress and thrive in each phase of their treatment.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- AMFT, LMFT, or MSW level education required.
- Knowledge of group process, group facilitation, and conflict resolution.
- Strong reading comprehension and analytical skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, including proper grammar, spelling, and legible handwriting.
- Understanding and demonstration of professional ethics, boundaries, and judgment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse population.
- Time management skills.
- Knowledge of addiction and the addictive process.
- Specialized knowledge in areas such as mental health issues, life skills, vocational training, anger management, criminal behavior, grief counseling, rape crisis, and incest.
- Familiarity with TC milieu, 12-step philosophy, or other recovery approaches.
- Proficiency in a second language (Spanish preferred).
- Computer literacy.
- First aid and CPR certification.
- Annual tuberculosis screening.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Treatment Planning: Evaluates client needs in a case conference setting and helps develop, update, and assess treatment plans.
- Caseload Responsibilities: Conducts individual and group therapy sessions, promotes client accountability, and facilitates interventions in a positive and constructive manner.
- Administration and Compliance: Assists in meeting administrative and compliance requirements, maintains accurate and up-to-date client documentation, and enters case notes in a timely manner to support insurance utilization reviews.
- Community Responsibilities: Collaborates with counselors on day-to-day client issues and provides support for clients of other therapists when needed.
- Role Model: Adheres to house norms, demonstrates honesty, listens to client concerns, and takes responsibility for personal actions.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs first aid and CPR as required.
- Covers caseloads for absent colleagues when necessary.
- Serves on committees as assigned.
- Works a rotating schedule as needed.
- Occasionally participates in activities outside of standard job duties (fundraising, facility maintenance, events, camping, etc.).
