Summary
The Substitute teacher steps in to manage a classroom when one of the regular teachers are absent, following provided lesson plans and maintaining a positive learning environment. They ensure continuity of instruction while managing classroom behavior and addressing students' needs during the school day.

UMCS is a public charter school serving TK through 8th grade. The school is located in Oakland and is open to all children residing in the state of California. Responsibilities
- Arrive promptly to the assigned school or classroom as needed.
- Follow lesson plans left by the regular teacher, ensuring continuity of learning.
- Manage classroom behavior according to the school's rules and policies.
- Take attendance and report any absences to the office as required.
- Provide supervision during recess, lunch, and other activities as assigned.
- Adapt to different subjects and grade levels, often with little preparation time.
- Communicate with students in a clear and respectful manner.
- Report any incidents or issues that arise to the school administration.
- Leave detailed notes about the day's activities, including what was completed, behavior notes, and any other relevant information.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students throughout the school day.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters.
- Follow emergency procedures as outlined by the school, such as fire drills.
