Reports To: Principal

Employment Type: Full time

FLSA Status: Exempt

Pay Rate: $70,000 - $80,000 per year

Term of Employment: July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026; renewable at the end of the term

Position Overview: The Vice Principal works alongside the Principal to manage the administrative and educational components of the school. He/she regularly interacts with teachers, students, parents, and members of the community. The Vice Principal also assists with student discipline issues by motivating students to turn negative behaviors into positive actions. The Vice Principal is able to assume the Principal’s duties when she is not present on campus.


Essential Duties:


Curriculum

  • Assist teachers in implementing best practices for teaching and learning
  • Oversee school’s technology program and procurements
  • Oversee standardized testing program
  • Assist in analyzing data for school improvement
  • Evaluate textbooks and curriculum materials/Establish and maintain communication with publishers’ representatives
  • Review lesson plans to ensure that state standards are being met in every classroom
  • Assist in reviewing report cards at the end of each quarter

Discipline

  • Assist in revising and overseeing discipline policies
  • Provide assistance to teachers on discipline issues
  • Communicate school policies to students and teachers
  • Conference with parents on discipline issues
  • Sit in on difficult conference at the request of the teacher

Meetings

  • Attend all administrative diocesan meetings, leadership team meetings, faculty meetings and other meetings as designated by the Principal
  • Preside over staff meetings in the absence of the Principal

Personnel

  • Conduct informal observations and walk-throughs regularly and provide teachers with feedback
  • Mentor new teachers
  • Advise and listen to teachers’ concern
  • Participate in the interviewing of new teachers
  • Provide for substitute teachers and ensure adequate sub plans are maintained

Safety

  • Serve on School Safety Team and ensure Safety Plan is understood and implement by staff
  • Assist in the implementation/revision of emergency procedures

Supervision

  • Assist in creating supervision schedules (before school, recess, lunch, after school)/Supervise when a teacher is not available
  • Assist in the coordination of/manage school drop-off and pick-up procedures
  • Assist in serving as point-of-contact for summer camps, afternoon sports and clubs

Teaching

  • Substitute in classrooms when a substitute is not available

Requirements:

  • A practicing Catholic with a personal commitment to Catholic education
  • A Master’s Degree in educational Administration or related field
  • The ability to evaluate and improve educational programs
  • The ability to lead and motivate others
  • The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • An appreciation for individual differences, including those of students requiring special education services
  • At least five years’ experience as a teacher, along with demonstrated effectiveness as a leader within a school
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Cultural openness, and a familiarity with Mexican and Latino culture
  • Work a minimum of a full school day (7:30am – 3:30pm) with some nights and weekends required (Back to School Nights, parent conferences, etc.)

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to remain in an office at a computer workstation and access information from a computer and use a telephone. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the school, as well as maneuver throughout the parish/school facility to attend meetings, briefings, and other work-related events. The employee may be required to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend meetings or events. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
