ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Director of Curriculum and Instruction (DCI) at Invictus is relentless about strong student outcomes and identifies ways to continuously impact student learning. As a DCI, you hold the vision for great teaching and learning and take action to realize this vision.
Great teaching is the determining factor in realizing our schools mission and the DCI supports teachers in creating and maintaining a rigorous, productive, and joyful classroom climate through effective coaching and feedback.
We are seeking exceptional individuals to execute the following essential job functions and professional responsibilities:
- Build trust with teachers in service of supporting their development, using strong interpersonal skills
- Develop and support all aspects of new teacher onboarding
- Conduct regular classroom observations
- Provide consistent, high-leverage, actionable feedback for teachers to improve practice
- Leverage diverse coaching strategies to support teacher development
- Support teachers in using data to inform instruction
- Ensure a high level of academic rigor and consistency of classroom management across classrooms
- Develop and implement systems of accountability to evaluate teacher performance
- Define academic rigor by content area and support teachers in achieving this in their classrooms
- Organize Grade Level meetings
- Support the Academic Counselor with the grading system and report cards compilation
- Lead testing coordination and logistics.
- Develop and lead professional development and teacher collaboration focused on instruction, intellectual preparation, and classroom management
- Support professional development and coaching related to student supports and culturally responsive pedagogy
- Evaluate and oversee implementation of grading policies and systems
- Plan and design summer school programming, in collaboration with Student Supports Team
- Support continuous growth of school program through identifying school-wide challenges and working towards solutions
- Coordinate all benchmark, finals and standardized testing, including data analysis protocols and re-teaching plans
- Design, implement, and sustain seamless execution of schoolwide routines, systems and operations in collaboration with Leadership Team members
- Collaborate with Leadership Team members to design and execute events related to the academic program, such as the Semester Awards Night
- Serve on the Instructional Leadership Team and the Leadership Team to make key decisions related to the academic and overall school program
- Support the coordination and oversight of standardized state testing, including SBAC, CAST, and MAP
- Actively supervise students during transitions such as arrival, homeroom, passing periods, lunch, and dismissal.
- Attend and participate in school-wide events including Back to School Night, Parent/Teacher conferences, End of the Year events, Grade Level Meetings, Department Meetings, Summer Professional Development, weekly Professional Development during the school year, and other assigned meetings.
- Demonstrate proficient use of technology to communicate with staff, families, and community members using multiple school-based platforms.
- Utilize Educational Technology platforms for curriculum development and planning.
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal or an administrator.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance in order to perform essential functions of the role.
- Serve as a substitute teacher across different spaces as needed.
- Collaborate with staff and leadership to continuously improve practices and address student needs effectively.
- Foster open and respectful communication, offering and receiving constructive feedback to enhance personal and team performance.
- Set and hold high expectations for academics and behavior.
- Develop trusting, authentic relationships with students and their families.
- Create and maintain a joyful, safe, structured, and engaging school and classroom culture.
- Demonstrate passion for the content area you coach.
- Encourage students and teachers to take risks and learn from their mistakes and create opportunities for students to leverage the power of their voice.
- Supervise and engage with students in-person to ensure student safety and learning.
- Uphold and model core values, including purpose, perseverance, productivity, growth mindset, integrity, leadership, joy, gratitude, mindfulness, and kindness.
- Perform any other reasonable duties or responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor.
- Participate in the performance evaluation process, which is based on adherence to the outlined responsibilities and qualifications.

PUBLIC SCHOOL EMPLOYMENT REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Earned Bachelors Degree.
- Pass a Criminal Background Check through the Department of Justice.
- Obtain a negative TB reading prior to starting employment.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- California Single Subject or Multiple Subjects Credential
- Our ideal candidate has at least three years of teaching experience.
- Our ideal candidate has at least two years of coaching experience.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This full-time and on-site position requires sufficient mobility to report to campus, work in an office, and engage with students, families, and colleagues, with or without reasonable accommodations. The role may involve light lifting, pushing/pulling, standing, sitting, and bending for extended periods. Success in this role requires working well under pressure, meeting deadlines, and adapting to stressful and unpredictable environments. The employee must effectively prioritize and organize tasks while maintaining open and respectful communication with families and community members using school platforms and technology. Attendance and active participation in school-wide events, professional development sessions, and other assigned meetings are essential.
