Pay Range: $87-$93 per hour with benefits


Position Overview

We are offering an exciting contract opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer based in Glendale, CA, who will contribute to the development of innovative systems and platforms that support extraordinary experiences at our theme parks and resorts. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in automating, building, and monitoring vital systems at scale while ensuring the delivery of reliable and efficient software solutions.

This position is suited for an experienced and motivated engineer with expertise in Linux systems, software development, CI/CD workflows, cloud hosting, and DevOps culture. Key Responsibilities:

Design (30%)

  • Lead project and architectural planning efforts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to generate innovative systems solutions.
  • Document and integrate system architecture.

Build (30%)

  • Implement and integrate scalable systems and tools.
  • Configure platforms and ensure infrastructure stability, scalability, and resilience.

Run (30%)

  • Provide Level 2 application and systems support.
  • Manage incident resolution, maintain service standards, and enhance operational reliability.

Core Must-Haves:

  • Linux expertise (Windows experience optional).
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Ruby, Go).
  • Experience with public cloud hosting solutions (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).

Technical Requirements

  • Expert-level administration of Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with CI/CD platforms (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
  • Proficiency in systems automation tools (e.g., Chef, Ansible, Terraform).
  • Development experience in programming languages (e.g., Python, Ruby, Go, Java).
  • Familiarity with container computing tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud automation tools (e.g., Boto, CloudFormation, Terraform).
  • Proficiency with web server technologies (e.g., Java, Node.js, Tomcat, Apache/nginx).
  • Strong understanding of internet technologies, network protocols (e.g., HTTP, DNS), and REST APIs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience with internet technologies and production systems in a professional setting.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing load balancers.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and performance analysis skills.
  • Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile/Scrum, Waterfall).


Communication & Leadership Skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Leadership experience in managing cross-functional team initiatives.
  • Strong mentoring skills and ability to train junior staff.
  • Skilled in documentation creation, project planning, and delivering technical presentations.

Education

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in technical operations and software engineering will also be considered.
